I have one final tip, with an accompanying background story. I had written almost all of the thank you notes for our wedding gifts, but had just a few that I needed to confirm what that person gave us. I had a list, but had written the first few on a separate piece of paper. Stupid... I couldn't immediately find that other piece of paper and didn't want to send some of the thank you notes before the others, so I set my completed stack aside (fully addressed and ready to go in the mailbox). We spent the next week or so with family, went on our honeymoon, and then it was back-to-school time (I'm a teacher). I'll skip to the punch line. The completed stack is still neatly stored and ready to send. We've been married for seven years. Talk about an extreme facepalm situation. So, my tip is once you've written an elegant handwritten note, send it! (P.S. Do you think I could/should still send them? Perhaps with a second handwritten note apologizing for being a dunce? My mom said no, but I feel like if I got something like that in the mail, I would crack up and absolutely love it! What does anyone reading this think?)

My grandson was in elementary school when the brilliant powers that be pushed the theory that cursive writing is outdated and unnecessary. My daughter suggested I teach him. Well, … how do you teach a 7 th grade student cursive? You turn to Lindsey. She has answers for everything and even did a set of woodland characters I requested. i didnt know this. All my dip pen nibs have been damaged. Also I have used white ink and now that it has dried. I am unable to clean it with water. What to do ?? I even left them over night in water but that did not help. It became even more rusty. Please suggest a solution.

What nib are you using?

I am addressing black envelopes for a wedding and would like to use white ink. I am using a flat nib and would like to know if I can put this ink in a cartridge for my calligraphy pen. Or in a reservoir of a calligraphy pen. I appreciate your advice

I find a rollerball is better to write with than a biro. The ink is wetter and allows the tip to flow across the paper more easily. It allows me to relax my hand. I take a lot of notes and my wiring can get messy. Good quality paper is also a big help.

What I've taken to do with my inks that I suspect I may not use again for a while, is to store them in a zip-lock bag which contains a folded paper towel wet with water... thus a mini-humador. I check them periodically-- both the wetness of the paper towel and the level and fluidity of the ink in the bottle. If the towel is dry, I re-wet it. and if the level in the ink bottle is lower or if a "ring" of dried ink has formed, I syringe in distilled water (yes, I always keep a jug of distilled water for my hobbies and other projects). I do the same for my markers, and where I have solvent based markers, I also keep lesser used ones in zip-lock bags with a towel wetted with nail-polish remover or alcohol or both. For the ziplocks containing pens with organic solvents, I have a special metal container (typicallly a very tight fitting COOKIE tin), I keep in the garage. I have a similar COOKIE tin that I keep rags that i've used for applying oil based finishes to wood.
